Marino Mártinez

Director of Research, Caminos del Inka, Inc.

Marino Martinez holds a degree in Artistic Education and has completed master's studies in Anthropology at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos. Additionally, they are a musician and teacher graduated from the José María Arguedas National Higher School of Folklore.


Since 2010, they have played a pivotal role as the Research Director and Producer at Caminos del Inka, Inc. They also serve as an associate producer for the magazine Caretas and hold the position of director at the Yaku Taki Traditional Peruvian Music Documentary Center.


Their contributions to the field include publishing the book "Manuel Acosta Ojeda: arte y sabiduría del criollismo" (Lima, 2008) and producing several Peruvian music albums. Furthermore, they have authored musical research articles for universities and academic institutions.


Their expertise extends to editing books and research journals for the National School of Folklore and other esteemed institutions. They've directed audiovisual projects associated with musical research and ethnography.


In recognition of their work, the Congress of the Republic honored them in 2008 for their contributions to the dissemination of Yaraví, a popular genre from the South American Andean countries.


As a musician, they have showcased their talent on numerous stages across America and Europe. Notably, they spearheaded the Bicentennial Sound Library project for the Ministry of Culture of Peru and are a member of the Peruvian Association of Ethnomusicology.

Recently, they participated in a musical production with Peruvian singer Susana Baca, which has received nominations for the Latin and American Grammy Awards in 2024.

Caminos del Inka, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to discovering, preserving, expanding, and sharing the vibrant musical heritage of the Americas. Our mission encompasses cultural and musical research, composition, publication, performance, education, and outreach.

Our vision is to secure a lasting place for this music in concert repertoires worldwide, spanning symphonic, chamber, choral, and operatic genres.


To achieve these goals, Caminos del Inka, Inc. engages in:


  • Conducting historical, musicological, and audiovisual research.
  • Commissioning original compositions and transcriptions of existing music.
  • Publishing this music across various media formats to reach broader audiences.
  • Enhancing the musical experience through contextual elements such as photography, videography, and choreography.
  • Presenting dynamic and historically-informed performances that educate audiences of all ages.
  • Fostering enthusiasm for this music among conductors and musicians through initiatives like The Conducting Institute and the Texas Institute for Orchestral Studies.


Additionally, we document the richness of traditional Peruvian music through Yaku Taki.
